Golden Pheasant

Pheasants are arguably Whitford Bird Gardens main attraction, with 6 birds living both inside the aviary and out in the lake area.

The Lady Amherst, Reeves and Silver Pheasants as well as the Himalayan Monal all live in the lake area with the Golden Pheasant residing within the aviary with the smaller birds and lizards.

Whitford Bird Garden also has a rare crossbreed of pheasant, which is named Nilsson after its original breeder.

One of the joys of the experience is that visitors walk amongst the birds within the vermin proof garden, along a path that is unintrusive to their environment

Children who are well behaved may even be lucky enough to receive one of the pheasant's shed tail feathers as a souvenir, so be on your best behaviour!
